I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

  1. Format LINQ statements in extension method format

    Many IEnumerable<T> queries are too complicated and not even suported by the classic query style (from ... where ... select). I suggest making it optional to use only extension method formatting to make it easier to comprehend.

      • Remember settings like de4dot options

        It would be good for the program to remember the options selected for de4dot. Also there are more options in de4dot that could be added.

        • Provide options for VB.NET decompilation without ByVal keyword

          ByVal has been the default for the VB.NET compiler for many years (possibly since VS2008), and it would be nice to have the option of decompiling to VB.NET without having to globally remove all of the unnecessary ByVals.

          • AssemblyList should be managed separately from the currently loaded assemblies

            It's annoying that adding/removing assemblies in a session automatically affects a saved assembly list. This is not convenient as the lists are continuously changed without prompting.

            There should be a separate management UI for these Lists.

                • need to be able to extract all source files into a folder without creating a project

                  Old project uses .net 1.0 or 1.1 but without that target platform it won't create a project, but I still need all the source files so I can create a new project.

                  • For missing references.

                    For missing references: point the root, 'References', at a folder and it picks up the properly named assemblies, then point at another folder to pick up any remaining assemblies, etc.

                      • Do not unload a DLL when the file on disk is deleted.

                        When I rebuild a DLL the original file gets deleted and JD shows me a dialog box alerting me to that fact.
                        Eventually the DLL is recreated, but by now I have to tell JD to load the DLL again from scratch.

                        I would rather have a model where the decompiled version of the DLL stays in JD (just like it happens in Reflector).
                        I would also accept a model where JD automatically reloads a DLL when the file changes on disk (perhaps with an option to do it automatically or on demand).

                        The only one I don't like is…

                          • Unicode text support inside source files

                            when source file (aka .cs file) contains Unicode text, JustDecompile could not show texts in Unicode format and after decompiling the assembly these texts are unreadable.

                              • create new object syntax

                                if the decompiled code is something like:
                                Element elem = new Element();
                                It's better to change the first 'Element' to var. .e.g var elem = new Element();

                                But if the element is not created explicitly like the source code below:
                                Element elem = ElementFactory.Create();
                                Keep the begining 'Element' will help source code reader know the variable type ElementFactory returned.

                                • Evaluate cross platform compatibility issues

                                  JustDecompile works a very low level, would it be possible for it to also understand cross platform compatibility errors - we can start by changing base framework and if any references are not available, can it highlight. With .NET becoming more cross platform, this is going to get critical to understand if the library will work across platforms/targets.

                                        • Display correct C# code for 'fault' blocks

                                          The 'fault' block is defined as part of the CIL spec, but it isn't currently available as a distinct feature within C#. The 'fault' feature essentially acts as a finally which is only called if an exception was thrown. This was decided not to be an essential C# language feature, as its functionality can be implemented as part of multiple discrete catch blocks, but the CLR still supports the construct.

                                          Despite it not being commonplace in normal code, the fault construct does sometimes appear in compiled binaries, such as those processed by a post-build tool (e.g. PostSharp). It is sometimes…
