Welcome to the Telerik JustDecompile feature suggestion forum. Please vote or submit a feature suggestion. If it is not a product feature request it might be moderated.

Please note this tool is helping Telerik plan ideas and understand how developers use JustDecompile. It may not always represent the actual priority list for the product team.

I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

  1. Show a list of all other assemblies that an assembly depends on

    Provide the ability to view what other assemblies an assembly depends on, and possibly also the ability to search for any assemblies that have a dependency on a selected assembly

    • Format LINQ statements in extension method format

      Many IEnumerable<T> queries are too complicated and not even suported by the classic query style (from ... where ... select). I suggest making it optional to use only extension method formatting to make it easier to comprehend.

        • Highlight user-selected string in the decompiled source

          Highlight all matching strings in the currently opened source that the user has selected (for reference, check Notepad++). Then I would not need to change between search window and the source window, since I could see the string on interest highlighted already.

            • Improve decompilation in general

              Look at decompiled method System.Windows.Forms.Show(IWin32Window) in JustDecompile and look at it in ILSpy (http://ilspy.net/) or Reflector (http://www.reflector.net/). Though result in runtime is the same, decompilation in JustDecompile is strange and much less readable and understandable.

              I think this kind of rather complex decompilation is also in other places.

              • Options for C# religious convictions -- you know, brace placement and all that

                The current version puts braces ({}) on their own line. I want the opening brace on the same line as the initial keyword.

                if (a == b) {
                not
                if (a == b)
                {

                A nice option is to pick up all these formatting rules from your Visual Studio settings

                • Show CompilerGenerated Code in C#

                  Show the CompilerGenerated code in C#. Currently enabling the options shows only the class declarations.
                  Eg:
                  [CompilerGenerated]
                  private static Action CS$<>9__CachedAnonymousMethodDelegate2;

                  where as, it would be helpful if the tool can instead show something like this:
                  [CompilerGenerated]
                  private sealed class <>c__DisplayClass1
                  {
                  // Fields
                  public int x;

                  // Methods
                  public void <Main>b__0()
                  {
                  this.x++;
                  }
                  }

                    • Decompile into Reflection Emit Syntax, not IL

                      Best feature was to decompile not only in IL Syntax, but also in VB or C# Emit calls

                      .Emit(OpCodes.Ldarg_0)

                      • Add Export File As... feature

                        Feature that allow us to save the decompiled code into a file (vb or cs). I think it is an essential feature that should be included.

                        • Local variables associated to boolean expressions when not needed

                          Given the code:

                          • Support C+/CLI

                            I'd like to be able to convert code from one language to another one. In large application, the ability to convert some C# code to C+/CLI and vice versa is really helpful when refactoring code.

                                • If a PDB is present for an assembly and contains source line numbers, mark the decompiled code blocks with the original PDB line numbers.

                                  If a PDB file is present for a decompiled assembly, use the PDB information to associate the decompiled code with an original line number. When an exception is thrown and the stack trace shows a line number (and you've lost the code) this would allow you to determine more precisely what is causing the exception.

                                  • Make code copy-pasteable into Notepad. I.e. have CRLF in Windows format.

                                    Currently it's copied in Unix format or whatever else that only has "\n" and not "\r\n".

                                    • Decompile Initializer Syntax correctly.

                                      Decompile into

                                      x = new Foo { X = 7, Y = "Something Else!" }

                                      instead of

                                      x = new Foo();
                                      x.X = 7;
                                      y.Y = "Something Else!";

                                      • let me refactor a variable name (eg from "str6") once I figure out its function (eg "name").

                                        Once I've discovered a variables purpose (from assignments/usage) let me rename it and refactor to all usages to make the code more readable.
