You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

    • Add VB.NET support to JustAssembly

      The new JustAssembly tool is great, but it very much needs VB.NET support. Will you be adding it?

      • Instant source code panel that shows resulting IL code

        Just like LinqPad, a way to enter some c# code or fragment, then have a button that after compiling that code shows the IL code for what I have entered. If possible in realtime.

        Very useful for us that want to understand IL code or need a quick snippet of it for patching games.

        • Search improvement

          Although it does work somewhat, it doesn't work entirely properly. I did a search for a property name. it does find it as a property definition and as a string, but it doesn't find uses of it in the code blocks (i.e. a user property named Email doesn't find user.email well)

          • Format if statement in a less clumsy way

            Original code:
            public Method(int readChunkSize, int writeChunkSize)
            {
            if ((readChunkSize < 1 && _readChunkSize != -1)) throw new ArgumentOutOfRangeException("readChunkSize");
            }

            Decompiled code:
            if ((readChunkSize >= 1 ? false : this._readChunkSize != -1)) throw new ArgumentOutOfRangeException("readChunkSize");

            ...

                • Decompile to Oxygene language of RemObjects

                  Other decompilers support Oxygene by RemObjects. I use Oxygene so it would be valuable to see the assembly decoded as Oxygene.

                    • C# projects to vb precede class private property class members with "_" to distinguish them from public interfaces of same name ...

                      Because of vb's case insensitivity the public and private member names will not be unique resulting in countless errors in language conversion...

                        • Show CompilerGenerated Code in C#

                          Show the CompilerGenerated code in C#. Currently enabling the options shows only the class declarations.
                          Eg:
                          [CompilerGenerated]
                          private static Action CS$<>9__CachedAnonymousMethodDelegate2;

                          where as, it would be helpful if the tool can instead show something like this:
                          [CompilerGenerated]
                          private sealed class <>c__DisplayClass1
                          {
                          // Fields
                          public int x;

                          // Methods
                          public void <Main>b__0()
                          {
                          this.x++;
                          }

                          • Prefix with @ if name is a keyword

                            When you decompile code e.g. into c# which was written in another language, it might be possible that words that are keywords in c# but not in the other language were used by the programmer as names. This will generate a syntax error in the decompiled code.
                            E.g. in my case the word "base" was used as part of a namespace name. My prefixing "base" with an at sign (@) the syntax error can be fixed.

                            • Format LINQ statements in extension method format

                              Many IEnumerable<T> queries are too complicated and not even suported by the classic query style (from ... where ... select). I suggest making it optional to use only extension method formatting to make it easier to comprehend.

                              • Provide options for VB.NET decompilation without ByVal keyword

                                ByVal has been the default for the VB.NET compiler for many years (possibly since VS2008), and it would be nice to have the option of decompiling to VB.NET without having to globally remove all of the unnecessary ByVals.

                                • need to be able to extract all source files into a folder without creating a project

                                  Old project uses .net 1.0 or 1.1 but without that target platform it won't create a project, but I still need all the source files so I can create a new project.

                                      if the decompiled code is something like:
                                      Element elem = new Element();
                                      It's better to change the first 'Element' to var. .e.g var elem = new Element();

                                      But if the element is not created explicitly like the source code below:
                                      Element elem = ElementFactory.Create();
                                      Keep the begining 'Element' will help source code reader know the variable type ElementFactory returned.

                                        A great feature would be to live test different instructions, and eventually edit them. But, at least to be able to see LIVE what happens if I do it this way or this way, etc...

                                        • Display correct C# code for 'fault' blocks

                                          The 'fault' block is defined as part of the CIL spec, but it isn't currently available as a distinct feature within C#. The 'fault' feature essentially acts as a finally which is only called if an exception was thrown. This was decided not to be an essential C# language feature, as its functionality can be implemented as part of multiple discrete catch blocks, but the CLR still supports the construct.

                                          Despite it not being commonplace in normal code, the fault construct does sometimes appear in compiled binaries, such as those processed by a post-build tool (e.g. PostSharp). It is sometimes…
